How I Work as a Consultant:

Thomas Smith brings 30-years of experience, and a wealth of creativity to every aspect of the real estate process. I often act as a Broker working either with a Buyer or a Seller. On many other occasions I lend my expertise during the period of time an investor owns the property or business, and they are looking for help in establish or implementing a particular direction. I do this as a Consultant.

I am often asked what a Real Estate Consultant does, and what role I can play. I liken it to a movie. When we go to a movie theatre we invest two hours in someone’s story. When I leave the theatre. I am often struck with the thought of, “I wonder what happens next?” I know, if it was real life, the character’s lives would go on from there.

This is where my role as a Consultant fits in. The period of time in which a Buyerurchases a property can be compared to the 2 hours of a movie. After the purchase, ownership of the property and all the challenges which happen next, are like the character’s lives following a movie. My part, as a consultant, is to help direct the process after a sale, by brainstorm ideas on a one time basis or playing a continuous role. I may be involved in getting property management off on the right foot, or putting a detailed marketing plan into place. Other times there's leasing, or new financing needs, or rehab, or development concepts, or syndication plans. Because I have done just about everything over the years, I can help my clients with just about anything, too.
